ass and squeezed, grinning. “Kiss me, beautiful.”
Sam happily complied. The kiss started out light and gentle, a bare brush of lips. It deepened and grew heated as Bo’s mouth opened beneath Sam’s, tongue pushing in.

With a low groan, Sam dropped one hand from Bo’s cheek and slipped it beneath the back of his sweater. The thin weave of the material clung to Bo’s body, and the dark red color set off his hair and skin to perfection. Sam had been fighting the urge to jump him all day. The sound of a throat clearing made them spring apart. Sam glanced over Bo’s shoulder to see Lee standing in the doorway, looking at once amused and uncomfortable.
    “Dinner’s about ready.”
With a swift, apologetic look at Sam, Bo turned around. “Thanks, Lee. We’ll be in in a minute. We were just admiring the beautiful view.” 176 www.samhainpublishing.com

Lee arched an eyebrow at them. “Yes, I can see that. Well, come on in when you get finished ‘admiring the view’. Janine’s making the gravy right now, and when that’s done everything’ll be ready.”
Bo’s blush was obvious, even in the waning light. “We’re coming in now.” Taking Sam’s hand in his, Bo led him through the French doors in Lee’s wake. The door led directly into the combination kitchen and dining room. Dishes laden with traditional Christmas fare covered the long oval table, leaving barely a glimpse of the red and green tablecloth. The scents of turkey, sweet potato pie and Bo’s homemade yeast rolls made Sam’s mouth water.
“Mm. Smells good.” Sam smiled at Janine, who stood at the stove pouring the gravy into a bowl. “I know I’ve already said this, but thank you both for having us over.”
“It’s our pleasure.” Picking up the bowl, Janine carried it to the table. “It’s the least we could do after you helped us get this place in shape in time for Christmas.”
“There’s still some work to be done.” Letting go of Sam’s hand, Bo hurried to the counter separating the kitchen area from the dining table and picked up the crystal bowl containing the cranberry sauce Danny had made for everyone at the office. “The deck needs re-staining before summer, and the front steps still need to be replaced.”
“Yes, but the bulk of the outdoor work and all of the indoor is done, thanks to you and Sam.” Janine surveyed the laden table. “I guess that’s everything. Lee, would you call the boys, please?”

“Sure.” Walking to the door, Lee leaned into the living room, where Sean and Adrian were playing. “Boys, dinner’s ready.” Sam heard a loud whoop from Sean. Seconds later, the children came running into the dining room. Both boys were still laughing at whatever game they’d been playing.
It made Sam happy to see Adrian’s wide smile and sparkling eyes. The two of them had met with a parapsychologist at the local college soon after Thanksgiving, and it had done the child a world of good. The woman had given Adrian plenty of practical tips on controlling and channeling his psychokinesis. She’d shown Sam how to help Adrian, and in the process helped Sam learn to better use his own talents. The end result had been www.samhainpublishing.com 177

increased confidence for them both, and that small change had worked wonders for Adrian.
Adrian plopped into the nearest chair. “Man, I’m starving.”
“Me too.” Lips pursed and hands on his hips, Sean studied the chairs gathered around the table. “Mom, can I sit next to Sam?” Janine laughed. “You can sit wherever you like, honey.”

“Cool.” Bounding over to Sam, Sean grabbed his wrist and dragged him to one of the chairs on the opposite side of the table. “You sit here, Sam. Dad can sit on your other side.”

“All right.” Chuckling, Sam slid into the seat to which Sean pointed him. “Come on over, Bo.”

Bo edged past Sean, heading for the chair on Sam’s left. He stopped behind Sam, tilted his chin back and planted an upside down kiss on his lips before settling into the indicated chair.

His hand found Sam’s knee under the table. Smiling, Sam curled his fingers around Bo’s and squeezed.

If anyone had told him six months ago that he’d be spending Christmas Day with Bo’s ex and her boyfriend along with the kids—and that they’d all be enjoying themselves—he’d have called that person crazy. Yet here they all were, sitting down to Christmas dinner together like a real
