usual, was missing the point. “Never because of you. I brought you to this.”
“Because you were helping people you care about.” Jonah’s voice went lower. “I’m allowed to do that too.”
“Not anymore.”
Jonah laughed.
“It’s not fucking funny.”
“It’s not funny,” Jonah agreed. “But remember, we’re heading for the quiet life now. I’m studying math and you… What are you going to do?”
“I don’t have to do anything.” Trey sank back down so he was talking to Jonah’s shoulder which was somehow easier than looking into Jonah’s too-keen gaze. “I’ve saved a lot of money over the years. We’ll use some of that to buy a house for winter, so you can study and I can rest. Honestly, I’m so tired, I just want a break.” He let out a huge sigh, still exhausted after their week-long trek back home.
“Okay, house-buying it is.” Jonah wrapped arms around Trey, holding him close. “But sleep first.”
Trey turned his face into Jonah’s neck and listened to the pulse of his lover’s heart beat deep and strong. It was music to his senses, and like music, it lulled him to sleep.

A Note From the Author
    Trey has been in every single one of my books set in this world, and it was quite a challenge writing Lynx because I needed to track a rather complicated timeline! He stepped on to the page during Kir and Josh’s story— Monster , Zombie , and Minder which comprise the print book Beautiful Monster . And it was over the course of these books that Trey had to be away from Jonah for so long as he infiltrated the Agency.
    I always wondered about Trey during those times he would make an appearance in others’ lives, and I wrote Lynx to find out what was going on in his life. Events that shape the later part of Lynx , including the rescue of Ira and the killing of Gabriel, take place in Marked , Liam and Alec’s story. And, near the end of Lynx when Trey gets a phone call from Ethan and goes on to save a feral wolf (Bram)—that occurs in Feral . Needless to say much that occurred in previous books affected Trey and Jonah’s relationship.
    As well, I’ve written books under my Jorrie Spencer name, and Trey appears in them too. That’s where you’ll see his niece Veronica’s story, in The Strength of the Wolf .
Lynx doesn’t necessarily mean Trey won’t be in future stories that I write, but he will be with Jonah and working at a further remove. He is (mostly) retired and no longer putting his life in danger.

Ethan didn’t react to Bram’s entry, even when he approached the bed. Bram stared down, wishing he
knew what to do.

It was the obvious answer and Bram didn’t trust it. If Bram opened the doors and let Ethan walk out
of the building, he wouldn’t get far. There was a razor-wire fence that surrounded the pack’s headquarters.
Yes, a legacy from Gabriel’s paranoid rule, but the thing was, Doug had never seen fit to tear it down. One

Bram retreated and sank down into the corner, directly below the camera and out of its eye. Sure the
camera was switched off, but under the circumstances, it didn’t hurt to be overcareful.
