Das kleine Einmaleins des Small Talk
Was bedeutet Small Talk?
Meeting and Greeting People / Die Begrüßung
(Wie geht es Ihnen?), oft verkürzt zu how d'you do, beim Vorstellen – bis hin zum saloppen Hi everybody, what's new? (Tag allerseits, was gibt's Neues?).
    Example 1
    Sue: Nice to meet you.
Ron: Nice to meet you, too. I'm Ron.
Sue: My name is Sue. Where are you from?
Ron: I'm from Vienna originally, but I live in Paris now.
Sue: I see. Those are two beautiful and historic cities, aren't they?
Ron: They sure are. I like them both very much.
    Where are you from?
Sue: Well, I'm from Washington, DC. This is my first time here, what about you?
Example 2
Jeffrey has just started working at the engineering office. He sees a bunch of colleagues chattering by the coffee machine.
Jeffrey: Hello everybody, may I introduce myself? I'm Jeffrey Zach, I just started working on Mr. Crane's project.
Collegue 1: Hi Jeffrey, Jim Bakula, two doors down, welcome to P&C Engineering.
Collegue 2: Hello Jeffrey, nice having you here, I'm Sarah, Mr. Olmeyer's secretary. This is Michael Kaminsky, the director of sales. I suppose you've already met?
